With a variety of heating systems available, pool heating can be accomplished through solar swimming pool water heaters, gas-powered pool water heaters, and electric heat pumps are just some of the most commonly used systems used for pool heating.
Considered as the most efficient and environmentally-friendly system for pool heating. Solar pool heating is particularly cost-effective in locations where sunlight is available most of the year, such as in tropical climates and long as there is sunlight, operating and electricity costs are relatively low for pool heating and the only electricity used is for the electric pump used to draw cold water and circulating it back to the pool. Gas pool heating is another pool heating system used by swimming pool owners, particularly if they live in locations where temperate or colder climates are the norm. Natural gas, propane, or other types of non-renewable fuel are generally used for gas-powered pool heating systems and are typically more expensive to operate due to additional gas payments. Since swimming pool water in colder climates typically takes longer to warm-up, gas bills for pool heating are much higher for pool owners than those who rarely heat their pool water and insulate it and to maintain pool heating temperatures. Electric heat pumps are also another form of pool heating equipment used by pool owners. Electric heat pump pool heating captures heat from the air and is the most energy-efficient pool heating equipment available for tropical climates where ambient air temperatures are normally warmer than normal. Electric heat pumps work efficiently for pool heating on warm, tropical-type climates by collecting heat from the air and converting it into warming the pool water. It can maintain a constant and even pool temperature with energy costs and savings are considerably low because there is no need to use propane or any fossil-fuel for pool heating. To retain pool heating, pool heating insulators such as thermal blankets are used to keep pool heat and keep pool heating and reheating expenses cost-effective. Thermal blankets are relatively inexpensive to purchase and do not add any extra utility bills for pool owners. Aside from saving on additional pool heating costs, pool owners also save on cleaning bills since thermal blankets also prevent algae growth by protecting the pool from direct sunlight when not in use and preventing debris from entering and contaminating the pool water. An additional cost of using thermal blankets is the need to purchase rollers since thermal blankets are relatively heavy and it needs rollers to cover and uncover the pool and store the thermal blanket properly for storage near the pool area. Since cold swimming pool water typically takes longer to warm-up, fuel and electricity bills are much higher for those who rarely insulate their pools by using a thermal blanket to maintain the pool temperature. Pool heating also requires pumps to draw cold swimming pool water into heating tubes and filters before pool heating systems pump the heated water back into the pool. Pumps are necessary equipment for pool heating as it maintains a constant circulation of warm pool water to reduce the amount of power required to maintain adequate pool heating.
